Children's Emergency Details for Skifields
Please ensure all skiing children have your contact details written on a piece of paper/card in their ski jackets as this helps speed up the process if staff need to contact parents in the case of an emergency.
School Bus Run Delays
If there are delays to any of the school bus runs due to weather, Go Bus will notify the local radio stations and also update their facebook page - 'Go Bus Central'. They will be doing their best to keep parents informed.
Scholastic Book Orders
The latest brochures are available from classrooms. If you wish to place an order please follow the directions on the inside back cover - Scholastic Book Club LOOP - option 1. We do not accept orders at school - orders will close at 12 noon on Friday 11th August. Any enquiries to Katrina please.
A timely reminder, for those using, or new to using, the PUDO (pick up drop off), area, please read the information below and learn how to use the system correctly. If everyone follows the rules, it works incredibly well. It only takes one parked or stationery car to upset the apple cart!
DRIVING AND USING PICK-UP DROP OFF AREA
Driving can be the best travel choice for some situations. At least half of students are collected by car every day with more on wet days - however, there are ways to avoid being part of the “chaos at the school gate” problem when driving.
Use the Pick up/Drop off Area after school
Wanaka Primary has a Pick up Drop off area on Ironside Drive near the main entrance to the school. Drivers are required to stay in their vehicles and exit/re-enter the area if their child is not ready for pick up. Talk to your children beforehand about your arrangement. Because this area is monitored every afternoon between 3.00-3.15pm, it’s possible to come a little later to avoid the busiest time. Pick up Drop off Info Pamphlet
Use Safe Meet Spots
Parents can use “Safe Meet Spots” to park and walk when visiting the classroom, or older children can walk to these areas to meet parents after school. These four areas are a short distance from the entrance and most involve no road crossings. Older children love the independence of getting there themselves and it’s a great way to avoid after school stress and congestion. Talk about the route they will take and walk the route with them beforehand. Safe meet spot map
