Cardrona Ski ProgrammeJust a reminder to the Cardrona Ski Programme participants that when you arrive on the mountain you need to sign in with the Wanaka Primary School staff, who are located in the main forecourt outside the cafe at the base area. You will be able to distinguish the staff as they are all wearing high viz vests and are armed with clipboards! Please always ensure you arrive up to the ski area with time to spare and remember the first ski lessons for the day start at 10.15am.
During the day there is always two or more WPS staff members around the base area - either in the cafe or in the forecourt - always easily identified in their high viz vests. If for any reason a child needs to leave the mountain before the end of the day please sign out with a WPS staff member.
At the end of the ski day, there is no need to sign out with WPS staff as they will check with instructors that all children have returned safely and also stay at the skifield for an extra half an hour after the programme finishes to ensure all children have been collected by their parents.
Scholastic Book OrdersThe latest brochures are available from classrooms. If you wish to place an order please follow the directions on the inside back cover - Scholastic Book Club LOOP Option 1. We do not accept orders at school - orders will close at 12 noon on Friday 11th August. Any enquiries to Katrina please.
SCHOOL NOTICESSeasons for GrowthSeasons for Growth is a programme which runs for eight sessions. It focuses on assisting young people look at the changes in their lives that have occurred from the loss of someone important. This loss could be the death of a friend, parent or grandparent or could be the loss experienced from the change in their family because of separation or divorce of parents. It also could be because of shifting towns. The programme is taken by a trained facilitator.
Students work in a small group of similar age peers who have experienced a similar loss or change. Seasons of Growth offers a range of activities that assists those involved to understand that it is normal to experience and express a range of emotions connected to change, loss and grief. Each person in the group has a workbook which follows a set structure to work through.
